Crossing out the EU flag

Hello, you left this message on my user page:

you are not upholding wikipedia policy, you are a common vandal. i realize that you are very offended by people opposing the EU. But what i can't understand is why you think that someone crossing out an EU flag on their page is obscene. this is in no way an insult to the people of europe, it is simply a statement against the organization. i heavily doubt that anyone is at all offended by it other than you, and crossing out the us flag honestly does not bother me, even though i would actually have some vague reason for it, as the US flag represents a people, not an organization. for the love of God, leave us all alone. you will not change anything. -Joeyramoney 17:12, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Someone answered to it:

I'm offended by people mangling the European flag. A flag is a flag, you can't claim that the EU one is less important because it "represents an organisation, not a people". It represents the people of Europe. If you think it wrong for someone to deface the American flag, then it is equally wrong to deface the European flag. Rusty2005 13:51, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
no, it really doesn't represent anyone. most europeans would not give the slightest shit about that flag. just take my word for it. Joeyramoney 23:41, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for taking the time to respond and thank you for choosing to represent your opinion now without crossing out the EU flag. I am not "very offended" by people opposing the EU, I just think that more respect would be nice. I would never cross out a flag because I know people get offended by these things and I think there are many easy ways to express legitimate concerns avoiding unnecessary bad feelings. I am concerned about some aspects of the EU as well, e.g. the agricultural subsidies and the antidumping cases the EU and US use to disrupt the message of free trade they are proclaiming themselves. I however acknowledge that the EU has enormous achievements in allowing a continent to prosper that was previously very diverse in economic development and civil liberties. I already did change something as several users saw my point and chose not to use the crossed out flag any longer. Have a good time here. ROGNNTUDJUU! 23:28, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

um, no, it's still crossed. you are the only one bothered. no one is represented by this flag. I'll cross flags as i like. you are annoying. kthnxbye.-Joeyramoney 23:37, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:13-playtime-big.jpg

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:13-playtime-big.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 19:22, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

It doesn't matter that you hate it, not everyone in the world is Christian. --Khoikhoi 23:55, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
you know exactly when muhammed lived, and so does pretty much evryone else. you don't have to tell people that the pilgrims landed in 1620 AD, it's implied if there's no suffix. anyway, isn't it more politically correct not to have anything at all? i'm sure that "CE" really annoys a lot of people. be more sensitive. Joeyramoney 23:58, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Old conversation, but I thought I should weigh in here to clear up some misconceptions; for one, the Manual of Style disagrees with you. Conventions like British vs. American English and CE vs. AD should be based on the original editor's style to avoid revert wars of people converting to the format of their preference. The only exception is in articles for which one style should obviously be preferred (such as United Kingdom or Christianity), where the preferred style should always be used no matter what style was used by the original editor. Reporting vandalism

I saw that you complained that no one was blocking an anonymous IP which kept vandalizing Platteville, Wisconsin. This is most likely due to the fact that the vandalism was getting automatically reverted by a bot, no administrator noticed it, and no one mentioned it to an admin. they seemed really unnecesary, as any brief glance at the lyrics rather explicitly illustrates the theme. it's not just one interpretation. same for the second quote, i realize that most wikipedians think that every single word of sentence must have a link, but it really just is quite evidently a delicate ballad, and is obviously pretty enduring if it has a paragraph on it, which is far more than most ramones songs ever get on here. if your case of wiki-paranoia is so insatiable as to warrant me, somneone who knows far more about this than you, to find a website that reflects the exact wording used in the article, fine. go bother someone else in the future. License tagging for Image:Ugggggntitled-1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ugggggntitled-1.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Esquire not first mass produced solidbody electric guitar

Are you saying that the Esquire should hold the distinction of being the first mass produced solidbody electric guitar? My sources say that the pre-Broadcaster/Telecaster Esquires were not produced in significant numbers--perhaps about 50. They didn't really get into mass production until the introduction of the 2-pickup Broadcaster (with the truss rod). Rohirok 23:51, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Cross posted to User talk:Elliskev.
I concur that his comment on Talk:Abortion was a little bit too sensitive, and not necessarily the most productive way to handle that situation. That said, your post above is most assuredly a personal attack, and you are now being warned to cease and desist. I am especially not impressed that you posted this far more serious assault on Joey's user talk page, where it would presumably attract less attention than on the article talk page. I see from your talk page you have been warned before; take this one to heart and try to be more civil in your dealings with others. And one final note; age is completely irrelevent. One of the admins I most respect is 16 (15 when he made admin) and one of the trolls I block on sight is over 50. Maturity, not age, is the focus. KillerChihuahua?!? 11:30, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

The image was up for deletion over copyright concerns. I assumed good faith and assumed you were the original creator (translator) and acted accordingly.

The only real copyright issue I see is that the spanish version is released under GNU which is incompatible with PD license you used. Nothing too serious, but wont hurt to address it either.

Furthermore, it would be nice to know what data the map is based on. I was wondering if you could inquire this with the spanish guy who created the original image.

Thanks for uploading Image:Hol7008a.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Speedy deletion of Image:Snowbelt.jpg

A tag has been placed on Image:Snowbelt.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Snowbelt.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File permission problem with File:6 western floral.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:6 western floral.jpg, which you've attributed to Copied from eBay. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 19:07, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

  • File:6 western floral.jpg

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
