yea I agree with your opinion. I'm just searching the information about the Paracel Islands on the Internet which you're talking to and found many article said that it's belongs to Vietnam, I didn't know if it is correct, but according to the Vietnamese ancient document in 17th century (in the book named Thiên Nam tứ chí lộ đồ thư) that is used as an evidence to proof that the Paracel Islands belongs to Vietnam:

Giữa biển có một dải cát dài, tên là Bãi Cát Vàng, dài độ 400 dặm, rộng 20 dặm đứng dựng giữa biển. Từ cửa biển Đại Chiêm đến cửa biển Sa Vinh, mỗi khi có gió Tây Nam thì thuyền buôn các nước chạy ở phía trong trôi dạt ở đấy, gió hướng phía Đông Bắc thì thương thuyền chạy ở phía trong trôi dạt ở đây, cùng chết đói hết cả. Hàng hóa vật phẩm thì đều bị để lại ở nơi đó.

Back to the main topic, basically what I am seein', this is entirely based on history, just to say that I don't know much 'bout History tho cuz I'm a mathematician.
