Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes are an ice hockey team that plays in the NHL. The team's home arena is PNC Arena, in Raleigh, North Carolina. They won the Stanley Cup during the 2005-2006 season by beating the Edmonton Oilers. Formerly known as the Hartford Whalers, the franchise would move from Hartford in 1997 to beautiful Greensboro, North Carolina before landing in their current home in beautiful Raleigh, North Carolina in 1999. They play in the Metropolitan Division of the NHL.

The name "Hurricanes" was chosen because the eastern part of North Carolina is often hit by hurricanes during tropical storm season.
