Doyle Brunson

American poker player (1933–2023)

Doyle F. Brunson[1] (August 10, 1933 – May 14, 2023) was an American poker player from the U.S. state of Texas.[2] He is sometimes called by his nickname, Dolly.[3] He was active as a child. He played basketball for a short time but while in a factory he by mistake broke his leg. Then he chose to play poker. In 1976 he won the Main Event of the World Series of Poker. His winning hand was a ten and a two. In 1977 he won the Main Event again with the same hand and in 1980 he took second place at Main Event. He had ten World Series of Poker bracelets[4] and held one World Poker Tour title.

Brunson died in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 14, 2023, at the age of 89.[5]
