Poor Things is a 2023 erotic black comedy movie directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and written by Tony McNamara. It is based on the 1992 novel by Alasdair Gray. The movie stars Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, and Jerrod Carmichael.[5]

The movie is about Bella Baxter, a fetus in the body of an adult woman in London who is saved from her mother's suicide through brain transplant and goes on a journey of self-discovery.

The movie was released on December 8, 2023, in the United States and on January 12, 2024, in the United Kingdom, by Searchlight Pictures. It had strong positive reviews.

It won four Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards (including Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy), with Stone winning Best Actress in both awards.
