History
The government of Azerbaijan made this song the country's national anthem in 1920, but shortly after, the Soviets invaded and then conquered them. Under the Soviet Union, playing this song was not allowed. Üzeyir Hacıbəyov, a famous composer, was forced to compose an Anthem of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic. Decades went, and eventually, the USSR broke up. Right after, the new government of Azerbaijan made "Azerbaijan March" the national anthem again.[1][2][3]
A part of the song is written on the back of the Azerbaijani 5 manat banknote issued since 2006.[4]
