Marche is one of the twenty regions of Italy, in Central Italy on the Adriatic Sea. The capital is the city of Ancona.

Geography
The region is located in Central Italy bordered by Emilia-Romagna and the republic of San Marino to the north, Tuscany to the west, Umbria to the southwest, Abruzzo and Lazio to the south, and the Adriatic Sea to the east.
Marche is the 15th largest region in Italy, with a total area of 9,401.38 km2 (3,629.9 sq mi).[4] The main rivers in the region are:
- Metauro, 121 km (75.2 mi)
- Tronto, 115 km (71.5 mi)
- Potenza, 95 km (59.0 mi)
- Chienti, 91 km (56.5 mi)
- Esino, 75 km (46.6 mi)
The Nera river is 116 km (72.1 mi) long but is a tributary of the Tiber and flows mainly in the Lazio region.
The highest mountain in the region is Monte Vettore, in the Ascoli Piceno province, with an altitude of 2,476 m (8,123 ft).[5]
