Ned Lamont
Governor of Connecticut since 2019
Edward Miner Lamont Jr. (born January 3, 1954)[1] is an American businessman and politician. He is the 89th and current Governor of Connecticut.[2] Before being elected governor, he was a political science professor at Central Connecticut State University.

In 2006, he beat incumbent United States Senator Joe Lieberman in Connecticut's Democratic primary election. However, in the general election, Lamont and Republican candidate Alan Schlesinger lost to Lieberman, who then ran as an independent candidate.
In 2010, he ran for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Connecticut, and lost to Dannel Malloy. He was the Democratic nominee for Governor in 2018.[3] He defeated Republican Bob Stefanowski in November 2018.[2][4]
