Pierre Schoendoerffer
French film director (1928–2012)
Pierre Schoendoerffer (French: Pierre Schœndœrffer; 5 May 1928 – 14 March 2012) was a French movie director, screenwriter, war reporter and educator. He was a First Indochina War veteran. He was president of the Académie des Beaux-Arts for 2001 and for 2007.[1] In 1967, he was the winner of the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for The Anderson Platoon. He was born in Chamalières, France.
Schoendoerffer died on 14 March 2012 in Clamart, France, aged 83.
