Richey Edwards
Welsh musician (1967–disappeared 1995)
Richard James Edwards (born 22 December 1967 – missing since 1 February 1995; declared dead 23 November 2008) was a Welsh musician. He was best known as the lyricist and rhythm guitarist of the alternative rock band Manic Street Preachers. He gained cult status for his songwriting and appearance. Having been called a leading lyricist of his generation, he was part of a movement now known as Cool Cymru. Edwards was born in Blackwood, Monmouthshire.
Edwards went missing on 1 February 1995 at the age of 27. His car was later found near the Severn Bridge, a known suicide spot. It is widely believed that Edwards had jumped from the bridge. He was declared dead in absentia on 23 November 2008.[1]
