Shakib Al Hasan (Bengali: সাকিব আল হাসান)(born 24 March 1987) is a Bangladeshi international cricketer and politician. He is an all-rounder and a member of perliament. He bats left-handed in the middle order. He is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. He played for Bangladesh at under-19 level, at Youth level at 2005-2006. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Zimbabwe in August 2006. He made his test debut the May 2007 against India.[1] In 2023, After Tamim Iqbal stepped down as captain, Shakib was made the captain of Bangladesh national cricket team and is leading Bangladesh as a Captain in the 2023 Cricket World Cup.[2]

Personal life

Shakib Al Hasan completed secondary and higher secondary education at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) and obtained graduation in BBA from American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB).[3]

Shakib's father is Khondoker Masroor Reza and his mother is Shirin Reza.[4]

He married Umme Ahmed Shishir, a Bangladeshi American on 12 December 2012.[5][6][7] The couple met in 2010 while Shakib was playing county cricket for Worcestershire in England.[7] They had their first daughter Alayna Aubrey Hasan[8] on 8 November 2015,[9][10] their second daughter Errum Hasan[11] on 24 April 2020[12] and their first son Eyzah Al Hasan[13][14] on 16 March 2021.[15]
