The University of Jordan (Arabic: الجامعة الأردنية), often abbreviated UJ, is a government university located in the Jordanian capital, Amman. It is the first established university in Jordan. It started in 1962 after a British military delegation and Jordanian armed forces discussed creating the university.

The university was nicknamed the Mother University. Almost a quarter of a million male and female students graduated from it.
