Isotope van protaktinium

Protaktinium (Pa) het geen stabiele isotope nie. Drie kom natuurlik voor; die relatiewe atoommassa is 231,03588(2).

Altesaam 29 radio-isotope van protaktinium is bekend; die mees stabieles is 231Pa, met ’n halfleeftyd van 32 760 jaar, 233Pa (26,967 dae) en 230Pa (17,4 dae). Al die oorblywende radioaktiewe isotope het ’n halfleeftyd van minder as 1,6 dae – die meeste minder as 1,8 sekonde. Die element het ook drie metatoestande, 217Pa (t1/2 1,15 millisekonde), 229Pa (t1/2 420 nanosekondes) en 234Pa (t1/2 1,17 minute).

Die enigste natuurlike isotope is 231Pa, wat as ’n tussentydse vervalproduk van 235U voorkom, 234Pa en 234mPa, wat albei as tussentydse vervalprodukte van 238U voorkom. Feitlik alle natuurlike protaktinium is 231Pa.
