ASUSTeK Computer Inc., usually referred to as Asus,[1] is a computer hardware and electronics company. It was founded in Taipei in 1989 by T.H. Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh and M.T. Liao.[2] Asus is the world's fifth-largest PC vendor by 2013 unit sales (after Lenovo, Hewlett-Packard, Dell and Acer).[3]

The name Asus originates from Pegasus, the winged horse of Greek mythology.[4]
