ഗ്രിഗറി പെക്ക്
ഗ്രിഗറി പെക്ക് ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ സിനിമാ അഭിനേതാവായിരുന്നു. മുഴുവൻ പേര് എൽഡ്രഡ് ഗ്രിഗറി പെക്ക്. 1940 കളിലും 60 കളിലും അദ്ദേഹം വളരെ പ്രശ്സ്തനായിരുന്നു. 1980 വരെയുള്ള കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ അനേകം സിനിമകളിൽ പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. 1962 ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ടു കിൽ എ മോക്കിംഗ്ബേർഡ് എന്ന സിനിമയിലെ ആറ്റക്കസ് ഫിഞ്ച് എന്ന കഥാപാത്രം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ മികച്ച നടനുള്ള അക്കാദമി അവാർഡിന് അർഹനാക്കി. 1944 ലെ ദ കീസ് ഓഫ് ദ കിംഗ്ഡം എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ അഭിനയത്തിന് നല്ല നടനുള്ള ഓസ്കാർ നോമിനേഷൻ ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നു. ദ ഇയർലിങ്ങ് (1946), ജെന്റിൽമാൻസ് എഗ്രീമെന്റ് (1947), ട്വൽവ് ഓ ക്ലോക്ക് ഹൈ (1949) എന്നിവയും വളരെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ട ചിത്രങ്ങളായിരുന്നു. 1969 ൽ അമേരിക്കൻ പ്രസിഡന്റ് ലിന്റൺ ജോൺസൺ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് പ്രസിഡൻഷ്യൽ മെഡൽ ഓഫ് ഫ്രീഡം എന്ന ബഹുമതി നല്കി.

എൽഡ്രഡ് ഗ്രിഗറി പെക്ക് 1916 ഏപ്രിൽ 5 ന് കാലിഫോർണിയയിലെ സാൻ ഡിയാഗോയിൽ ജനിച്ചു. മാതാപിതാക്കൾ ഗ്രിഗറി പേൾ പെക്കും ബർനിസ് മേരിയും ആയിരുന്നു. പെക്കിന് 5 വയസുള്ളപ്പോൾ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ വിവാഹമോചനം ചെയ്തു. പിന്നീട് പെക്ക് വളർന്നതു മുത്തശ്ശിയോടൊപ്പമായിരുന്നു. 10 വയസുള്ളപ്പോൾ ലോസ് ആൻജലസിലുള്ള കാത്തലിക് മിലിട്ടറി സ്കൂളില് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനു ചേർന്നു. അവിടെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയായിരിക്കുന്ന സമയം മുത്തശ്ശി ഇഹലോകവാസം വെടിഞ്ഞു. 14 വയസിൽ പിതാവിനോടൊപ്പം താമസിക്കുന്നതിന് സാൻഡിയാഗോയിലേയ്ക്കു തിരിച്ചു പോയി. അവിടെ സാൻഡിയാഗൊ ഹൈസ്കൂളിൽ ചേർന്നു. സാൻഡിയാഗൊ സ്റ്റേറ്റ് യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയിൽ നിന്നു ബിരുദമെടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. ചെറുപ്പകാലത്ത് ഒരു ഭിഷഗ്വരൻ ആകണമെന്ന് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചിരുന്നു. അതിനാൽ ബിരുദമെടുത്തതിനു ശേഷം യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി ഓഫ് കാലിഫോർണിയയിൽ ഒരു പ്രീമെഡിക്കൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയായി ചേർന്നു. പഠനത്തിനുള്ള പണം കണ്ടെത്തുന്നതിനായി ചെറിയ ജോലികള് അക്കാലത്തു ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. പഠനകാലത്ത് അഭിനയത്തിൽ വളരെ തൽപ്പരനായിരുന്നു.
