Biografia
Hastapenak
David John McDonald 1971ean jaio zen Eskozian. Hiru urte zituela Doctor Who telesila ikusi zuenetik aktore izateko asmoa zuen. Gurasoek nahiago zuten ohiko lanbide bat izan zezala baina bere ametsari eutsi zion eta 16 urterekin Royal Conservatoire of Scotlanden sartu zen. Jakin zuen beste aktore bat bazela David John McDonald izena zuena eta izena aldatzea erabaki zuen. Pet Shop Boys taldea gustuko zuen eta haren abeslari Neil Tennanten abizena hartu zuen[1].
16 urte zituela egin zuen aurreneko aktore lana, erretzearen aurkako laburmetrai batean. Lehen lan profesionala The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui antzezlanean izan zuen[2] eta telebistan Takin' Over the Asylum telefilmean.
Doctor Who
2005ean Doctor Who telesailaren aro berria hasi zen. Christopher Eccleston izan zen lehen doktorea (guztira bederatzigarrena) baina denboraldi bakarra egin eta telesaila utzi zuen[3]. Haren tokia hartu zuen David Tennatek eta bost urte egin zituen hamargarren doktorearen paperean. Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman eta Catherine Tate izan zituen laguntzaile aipagarrienak. Arrakasta handia izan zuen eta hainbat bozketatan doktorerik onena izendatu zuten telesailaren jarraitzaileek[4].
2010an Matt Smithek erreleboa hartu zion. Hala ere atalen batean agertu izan da ondoren doktorearen hainbat bertsio elkartuta. 2022an itzuli zen, hamalaugarren doktorearen paperean. Aldi bakarra da aktore berak Doktorearen papera bi aldiz betetzen duena[5].

Liberal eta sozialistatzat dauka bere burua eta Alderdi Laboristaren aldekoa dela esan izan du sarritan[8].
