A (A, a) is the first letter of the Cyrillic alphabet.

It came from the Greek alpha. A long time ago, it was called az^ǔ and stood for the number 1. It looks exactly the same as the Roman A.

All languages that use the Cyrillic alphabet say it as [ah].
