กรรม

กรรม (สันสกฤต: कर्म, สัทอักษรสากล: [ˈkɐɽmɐ] ( ฟังเสียง); บาลี: kamma) หมายถึงการกระทำ[1] คำนี้สามารถกล่าวถึงหลักการทางจิตวิญญาณของเหตุภาพ ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่เรียกว่า กฎแห่งกรรม เมื่อเจตนาและการกระทำของบุคคลหนึ่ง (เหตุ) ส่งผลต่ออนาคตของบุคคลนั้น (ผล):[2] เจตนาและการกระทำที่ดีจะเป็นกรรมดีและไปเกิดใหม่, บังเกิดใหม่ในภพภูมิที่ดีกว่าหมายรวมถึงสวรรค์และอาณาจักรแห่งความบริบูรณ์ในคริสต์ศาสนาและศาสนาอิสลาม ในขณะที่เจตนาและการกระทำที่ไม่ดีก่อให้เกิดกรรมชั่วและไปเกิดใหม่ในภพภูมิที่เลวร้ายและทุกข์ทรมานสาหัสยิ่งกว่า[3][4]

สัญลักษณ์กรรม เช่น ปมที่ไม่มีที่สิ้นสุด (ข้างบน) มักพบในทวีปเอเชีย ปมที่ไม่มีที่สิ้นสุดสื่อถึงความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างเหตุและผล วัฏจักรกรรมยังคงดำเนินไปตลอด โดยสามารถพบสัญลักษณ์นี้ที่ใจกลางของกงล้ออธิษฐาน

หลักปรัชญาของกรรมมีความใกล้ชิดกับแนวคิดการกลับชาติมาเกิดในศาสนาแบบอินเดียหลายสำนัก (โดยเฉพาะศาสนาฮินดู, ศาสนาพุทธ, ศาสนาเชน และศาสนาซิกข์)[5] เช่นเดียวกันกับลัทธิเต๋า[6] ซึ่งกล่าวไว้ว่า กรรมในปัจจุบันส่งผลต่อชีวิตในชาติหน้าใน สังสารวัฏ[7][8] และการบังเกิดใหม่ในคริสต์ศาสนาและศาสนาอิสลามหรือชีวิตหลังความตายที่รออยู่
