ชาวเคิร์ด
ชาวเคิร์ด (เคิร์ด: کورد ,Kurd) เป็นกลุ่มชนอิหร่าน[28][29][30] ที่อาศัยอยู่ในภูมิภาคบนภูเขาของเคอร์ดิสถานในเอเชียตะวันตก ซึ่งกินพื้นที่ทางตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ของตุรกี, ทางตะวันตกเฉียงเหนือของอิหร่าน, ทางเหนือของอิรัก และทางเหนือของซีเรีย[31] โดยมีดินแดนส่วนแยกของชาวเคิร์ดในอานาโตเลียกลาง, โฆรอซอน และคอเคซัส เช่นเดียวกันกับสังคมชาวเคิร์ดพลัดถิ่นในเมืองทางตะวันตกของตุรกี (โดยเฉพาะอิสตันบูล) และยุโรปตะวันตก (โดยเฉพาะในประเทศเยอรมนี) ประชากรชาวเคิร์ดมีประมาณ 30 ถึง 45 ล้านคน[2][32]

ชาวเคิร์ดพูดภาษาเคิร์ดและกลุ่มภาษาซาซา–โกรานี ซึ่งอยู่ในสาขาอิหร่านตะวันตกของกลุ่มภาษาอิหร่านในตระกูลภาษาอินโด-ยูโรเปียน[33][34]
หลังสงครามโลกครั้งที่หนึ่งและการพ่ายแพ้ของจักรวรรดิออตโตมัน ฝ่ายสัมพันธมิตรได้ทำข้อกำหนดสำหรับรัฐเคิร์ดตามสนธิสัญญาแซฟร์ใน ค.ศ. 1920 อย่างไรก็ตาม มีการละเมิดสัญญาในสามปีต่อมา เพราะมีการแบ่งดินแดนตามสนธิสัญญาโลซาน ทำให้ชาวเคิร์ดมีสถานะเป็นชนกลุ่มน้อยในประเทศใหม่ทั้งหมด[35]
